We cast our swing hangers in one piece from an aluminum alloy and fit each with a sealed bearing. The swing turns on rolling elements against your timber beam, silent in the yard through spring rain and summer sun.

We run our foundry around four plain objects. Each has its own shelf below, with parts pictured alongside the lumber they fit.
Matching the casting to your timber
A porch header, a garage joist, a standalone yard beam, or an A frame you bolt together on the lawn all take different fixings. We cast our pockets for dry lumber, ready for the drill bit once your wood has dried out from the yard.
A porch header
A 4x6 header or a doubled 2x8. The hanger sits on the underside on lag screws, or on a through bolt where you can reach both faces of the wood.
A garage or ceiling joist
Look for 2x6 or 2x8 overhead. Where the joist sits away from the spot you want, a short 4x4 laid across several joists carries the hanger instead.
A standalone yard beam
A 4x6 lying across 4x4 legs. Twelve feet of top beam holds three swings without a post in the middle; ten feet holds two.
An A frame you bolt together
Corner castings sleeve the legs onto the beam. We cut the pockets for dry dressed lumber, so the wood slides in rather than getting driven.

That number describes a casting pulled on a test rig, one hanger at a time. It says nothing about the wood you are drilling into, the age of that wood, or the screw you drive through it. The weakest part of a backyard swing is almost never the metal. Anchoring an A frame: stakes, augers, and when it has to be concrete
A frame rarely breaks. It walks, it rocks, and on one side it lifts. That is an anchoring problem, not a strength problem.
Looking over the hardware in spring
Take a walk out to the frame before anyone sits on the swing. Check the bolt heads against the wood, look where water rests in timber checks, and wipe the chain clean. A few minutes with a wrench on dry wood keeps the joint firm for the sunny months ahead.
- Put a wrench on every lag head and nut before anyone sits down.
- Look at the wood around each hole for a split running with the grain.
- Check the gap on the S hooks and close the ones that have opened.
- Wipe the chain dry and find the link worn thin where it meets the hanger.
- Push the frame sideways and watch the feet for movement in the dirt.
- Clear the ground front and back, twice the height of the beam.
Wool liners and a cast iron press
We pour iron and cut wool because we like honest tools. Our tortilla press is heavy gray iron that flattens masa between cut sheets of plastic. Our sheepskin insoles are soft wool skins to line your boots for winter warmth, plain and unshaped.

A casting poured in one piece has no soldered seams to part under hard use. We seat the bearing inside the shell to keep dirt out and silence iron squeaks. If a part does not suit your timber, we would rather help you find that out before you drill.

Choosing hardware for your overhead beam
Your overhead timber determines which hanger base you need. A broad porch header takes a flat plate with lag screws, while an A frame uses corner sleeves to join the legs. Getting the timber dry before assembly prevents gaps around the bolt shanks later.
If you are hanging a single seat from a porch joist, start with a pair of quiet bearing hangers. If you are building a yard set from lumber, begin with corner brackets, build the frame flat on the grass, and lift it into place once tightened.

Where to begin
Start with the wood overhead. Check whether you have an existing joist or need to build an A frame on the lawn, then select the hangers or bracket kits cast for that lumber shape.

What they wrote afterwards
Six of them, left on the listings at our retail partner and copied over as they were typed, misspellings and all. One says a bracket cracked when it was hammered onto a snug 4x6. It stays in, because that is the thing that goes wrong most often with these, and a page of clean fives would tell you nothing.
These are sturdier than I anticipated. They appear well-made and the little stickers for marking the holes, though a trivial thing, are pretty helpful.
Bought one and the 4x6 was a little snug, so when I forced the bracket onto the 4x6 with a hammer it cracked the bracket. Bought a new set and shaved the 4x6 down a little, it went on. After assembled I swung on it and no issues. Built the swing for my grandchildren and they love it. Replaced an old swing we had for years. I would buy again.
I bought these to put in a pair of shearling slippers whose insoles were worn out and coming loose. Great choice! These are substantial replacements, super-plush and comfortable, and they fit perfectly inside. No sliding around, well-cushioned below, easy to insert, and they feel like they'll stand up to a lot of use.
These brackets are very sturdy and heavy duty. They feel well made, and I like that all the necessary hardware is included, which makes installation easier. They worked well for putting together a solid A-frame swing set. They’re a good quality set of brackets, a fair value, and seem to be made of durable materials. They fit snugly and have been a convenient option for my DIY swing set.
These chains do what they’re supposed to and feel solid enough for general/residential use. Installation is straightforward. Time will tell how they hold up, but initial impressions are good. The yellow sections are a nice tactile buffer, as they provide a barrier between cold steel and hands - also reduces the chance of skin being pinched between twisting metal links.
Sturdy swing set and brackets. My grandsons love it. Their dad, grandad and uncle put it together and had them swinging and enjoying it in no time. They are rambunctious so I needed a swing set that will hold up. I’ve used the swing myself to check it out. Great product.
